Heilig Vuur (for concern)
Commissioned by the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, BenthemCrouwel architects and concern were asked to design an exhibition space dedicated to the spiritual side of modern art. Located right inside the Nieuwe Kerk on Dam Square, a contrasting neutral art space in the form of a cross was placed. This red cross-cocoon had an austere art-like atmosphere, differing very much from the astonishing church space around. The end of the art route was highlighted by a cafe with flickering fake flames. The photographs of the exhibition were done by my ex-boss Gilian Schrofer himself.
